i couldn't get a pic since it was at my lfs well its coast around 23.99.Its around 5-7 inches, it has red fins and it has black markings like strips and dots???anyone knows???

Don;t know why it was moved so suddenly as I'm not so sure its a gar...
You really need a pic for it to be confirmed, not sure about the red fuins, but it could be a gar, or it could be a tetra....hard to say and trying is useless without a photo.

Red fins is kind of unusual for a gar. Did it have a forked tail? Gars have round tails and a lot of the "false gar" types have forked ones.
