i have a festae that has long stringy poo and has not eaten for about 4 or 5 days . i have already tried medicine called tremazol but nothing has changed my other fish are not eating as well. also put in new pieces of driftwood and they seem to have white slimmy film on it. i've also noticed white little worms swimming in my tank most likely planaria. i need help determining the sickness and what would be a good medicine to take care of it.

I am not good with identifying sickness but i would say take out the wood and do a water change. Where did you find the wood? I use to get mine out of a river by my house. Best is to put it in a hot shower for about 10 mins if you did find it outside to wash it off real good. If you bought it somewhere maybe still try and wash it off.
And then you should be good to go from there and start to treat the water with meds.

Please refer to the guidelines for asking for help, we can't really help without knowing certain things.
In this case, how long has the tank been setup? Stocking? size? any readable ammonia or nitrite?
Most likely what is happening is an overabundance of organic material in the tank. Clean it up, gravel vac, and do a 10% water change, then another one tomorrow. Keep up with the regular water changes and the environment should improve.
For the actual disease, is the poo white? Long stringy poo can just be from vegetable matter, but the sunken belly in combination with white poo screams internal parasites. You should find a food that is medicated, I don't know what's available in your area. If you can't find the medicated food, then treat the whole tank with something that will rid your fish of internal parasites.

Tank is a 75 gal which has been set up for 1 year with nothing different besides adding the driftwood and the pike cichlid about a week now. The festae has been having this issue before the addition was made. The poo is stringy white and is constant also fish is not eating at all. Did notice that the other fish in the tank are not eating as well.I did put medicine in the tank it is called Sera Med Tremazol and it says it is to treat tapeworms . Need to know if this a good medicine to treat my fish or if anyone has any suggestions on what i can give it. Or advice on how to treat.

It's very common to have white mold like growth on driftwood shortly after adding it to a new tank. I doubt this is contributing to the issue at hand but it can't hurt to remove it.

Either way the first thing to do is a 50% water change as suggested above. I'd also add some Aquarium Salt.

Is the Festae showing any interest in food, or is it just ignoring it all together? What have you been feeding it?

It would be Hexa..
Hexamita is caused by intestinal flagellated protozoa and attacks the digestive system and the lower intestines of infected fish. The symptoms of this disease are often confused with those of hole in the head diseases as these two diseases usually are present at the same time in a fish. They are however two separate diseases that each needs to be treated.

Since the disease is internal it is necessary to medicate internally. The easiest way to do this is to mix 1% metronidazole in fish food (25g food for one 250mg metronidazole) and feed it to the fish. Feeding sparsely before feeding the medicated food can help guarantee that the fish eats the medicated food. It is also recommended to medicate the water as well by adding 12 mg metronidazole per litre aquarium water to make the treatment more effective. Repeat the water treatment every other day until you have treated the water three times..

Does not acknowledge food what so ever. Has not eaten anything. I did try feeding Omega One,Brine fish , tubeworms and the anti-parasite medicated food by Jungle but fish does not even attempt to eat it. What is Metrinidazole and where would I get it.

Metronidazole is a medication used mainly in the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, particularly anaerobic bacteria and protazoa..
It's marketed in the U.S as Flagyl..
You should be able to get it from a Pharmacy or Vet
I'm not sure if LFS would have it.. ( they don't over here )

If you have planaria....what are your nitrates?

How often do you change the water in that tank? and how much do you change?

Elevated nitrates caused by insufficient water changes cause immune systems to shut down. With out a functional immune system to back up the meds, the meds are next to useless.

If your nitrates are high enough that you have planaria I would question your GH as well. If your GH is elevated, a 50% water change will cause osmotic shock and kill your fish pretty quickly.

Before a proper course of action can be recommended... we need those numbers. GH and nitrate levels please.
