Hi everyone, I'm new here so hopefully I don't break any posting/etiquette rules!

I was on another website and saw some images of someone's filtration system for an 11,000 gallon shark tank. I'm a bit of an equipment nerd but I can't figure out what these tall, clear cylinders in the attached image are supposed to be?

My first guess was something to do with protein skimming, but there doesn't seem to be any venturi pumps or collection cups/pipes?

The owner doesn't know anything about his own system, so he wasn't much help.

Any insight is appreciated, I'm keen to learn more about how these monster tanks are filtered!

You broke so many forum etiquette rules just now. I'm appalled.

Just the pvc in that picture is worth more than any of my rigs. So it doesn't surprise me that I have no clue what those things are lol.

They usually fill those tubes with media like phosphate or carbon for a “reactor”… could be used for any kind of media.

I wonder if the clear ones, are the Clear PVC check, flow, or ball valves, that allow you to see if they're doing the job?
A close up of what's within might help.
I have used clear PVC in the past, for applications I wanted to be able to see.

Clear PVC is quite expensive, the above was @ $20 per foot.
