Hi I picked up this jack dempsey from lfs today and have not seen the color pattern like this. Any help would be appreciated.

Yea im pretty sure. he is about 5 inches I got him for 6.99 and he was in with the other jacks. He is the same size as.my female too.
Looks like one, even with the red stripe on the dorsal. I'd love to find some of them.
Looks what what some call a zanthic morph. They are fairly rare, but show up occasionally as 1 or 2 individuals morphs in a spawn. There are different color variations from dark (like the one in your pic) to almost completely yellow/gold and everything in between.
I had a spawning pair of managuense decades ago, that would produce 2 or 3 gold morphs in each spawn.
