Anchorage, AK
Just bought this guy from a local fish supplier and trying to determine exactly what subspecies of Aulonocara he is. I was thinking koningsi or masoni. He's about 4" long and is wild caught. He cost $65 up here in Anchorage, AK, so I imagine in the lower 48 he'd probably go closer to $45 or so. Anyways, which subspecies of Aulonocara do you think he is? In the photo the orange around his pelvic fins shows MUCH brighter and is more obvious than if you see him in person. I'm dying to get some females to go with him, but want to make sure I'm ordering the right subspecies. The supplier I got him from said they could order me females but they would cost $65ea as well and I'm hoping I might be able to get them for less when i go to Jersey next week while on Military Leave. As a side note, unless you're an animal hobbyist that collects, keeps, or breeds Moose or Bear, you should probably avoid Alaska, man is it expensive up here

Not sure if it is the angel, but the head shape and color looks like a fryeri. The white outline is another trait of them as well. I agree a better pic would help and the more the better

S. fryeri generally have an orange/red anal fin and don't usually get orange ventrals.

If it is a peacock, it is A. stuartgranti Cobue. The picture is fuzzyy, but it should have the stuartgranti "flame tail" patterning.
