I brought home 4 clown loaches about 4 days ago. They are doing very well, with the exception of one. I have noticed in the last two days he has been laying out and not shoaling with the others. I didn't think much of it, as I know clowns can take a while to acclimate.
The tank is 125 gallons and they are the only inhabitants... the tank is in a mini cycle, but I have been dosing with prime and checking water params... nothing has been above stress level.
I don't know if it is just part of the acclimation, or the mini cycle, but all the other loaches appear to be doing well. The one in question is slightly pinched in, I don't know if he might have skinny disease?
There are no signs of ich.

Any experience with NLS thera a? It's supposed to have garlic in it, and be good for treating without meds... along with the benefits of a balanced food.

I have successfully treated skinny disease with liquid prazi pro and medicated food soaked in garlic, but my loach was much smaller than yours appears to be.

Even if it got skinny it's still can be active specially if it's still not that bad cause I can't figure out skinny on your picture....what is the substrate your using anyway is that pool filter sand?

NLS is great food, but I don't think it will clear a case of the skinnies by itself. This guy definitely has the skinnies IMO. His belly looks full, but you can clearly see the lack of body fat above the stomach & in front of the tail. If he's eating, then he's got a pretty serious case of the wormies, cuz that belly is out there! Garlic extract is a great start, but to get rid of an established case like this I would definitely be treating with a medicated anti-parasite food. I crush-up Jungle Anti-Parasite Food (with Prazi & Levimasole) as the base for my homemade wormkiller food, then add garlic-soaked cucumber, peas (no skin), red lettuce, bloodworm & shrimp. Once that is all mixed (with a spoon, not blender) into a thick lumpy dough-like texture, I dissolve a few Jungle Parasite-Clear tablets into a cup of water & mix that in to make it a little softer, then spread it flat on a cookie sheet & freeze it. This guy probably needs a few weeks of the Levimasole, Prazi, and Garlic to clean him out. Use some of the Parasite Clear tabs in the tank to prevent the worms from spreading, but you really need to treat internal parasites Internally--they have to eat the medicine or it just won't work...

It's blasting sand. Check out the 125 gallon in my sig... somewhere around page 3 or 4 there's a picture of the bag.

You haven't had any problems from this mix? I'm afraid of overdosing.

I have had nothing but success with that mixture. By using the Jungle pre-medicated food, I don't have to do any manual dosing. If you are planning to use Prazi-Pro or liquid Levimasole from a vet in the mixture, then you would definitely need to be more careful. I wish I could just feed them the Jungle food straight, but they refuse to eat it...must taste like crap. Anyhow, if you're not comfortable using my recipe, please check around for another one. I used another homemade anti-parasite food recipe as the base for mine, then made a few adjustments.
