I have a cichlid that had the majority of its fins chewed off by some of the other cichlids in the tank. I have removed this fish from the community and put in a smaller seperate tank so it can heal? My question is will the tail and top fins grow back? If so how long will it take?

Getting him out of the tank was the best thing. He will heal up in a couple months. I would definately "beef," him up prior to returing him to the tank. Aside from his fins is his movement normal, and his eating habits?

Pics would also be helpful...

If you have melafix it wouldn't hurt to add. Should heal up as said, often faster then you expect.

i agree this is a great product, just don't overdose your fish with it, also aquarium salt will help, this happens alot too me, my burtoni really chew each other up some times , i just isolate them in a holing pen in the tank, and use melafix, and in a week or two depending on how bad there hurt, there just like new
