I have a ZZ red dragon that ive had for about three months now. Since day one he has been eating tetra cichlid sticks, concerned about the quality of these I wanted to make a change as well as mix up his diet a bit. So, I bought 3 different types of cichlid pellets by Hikari and I cant get him to touch them. Its weird because this guy eats like a cow seriously, so I figured introducing something new would be no problem at all. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks!

I was actually going to try that, I made it about a day before giving in, he will swim up to the glass and go up and down freaking out for food. It makes me feel bad lol. Ill give it a go again though. Also, lets say he still wont eat it after say, day 2, should I give him the other?

A two days starving process would be my 1st option. Bump the temperature up to 83 F*. And if the 3rd day he doesn't eat, feed him the usual and start the starving all over. But add an additional day to it every time you start the starving process all over.

Allrighty, Ill give this a go. Ill post back in a couple of days to give my progress. Thanks for the help man, I appreciate it.

U can go like a week of starving.( and sometimes u have too)..so literally just ignore him for 3-4 days then introduce that food..eventually he will give in..

Man dont cave in with the other food, they are a hard fish to resist feeding but it is for the best that you starve them onto the new food.

Worked like a charm guys. Hes eating the Hikari pellets like they are going out of style. Thanks alot.
