So I've had this fish for almost 2 months now he's grown quite a bit, he seems healthy, he's eating, he's the chaser in the tank not the chasee... I've heard of bloat but while roaming YouTube doing my nightly "studying" I came across a bloat video and thought he kinda looks like that and now I'm worried... I have another fish I got from the same batch and he too has a little potbelly... just like this one did when he was smaller... again healthy, fast and eating. Water is perfect, gets tested twice a week water changes ever couple of weeks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Looks a little bloated, what are you feeding it?

Just the pellets and occasionally thawed peas... but definitely not over feeding... I drop a pinch in and I have 11 fish and the pellets are gone in 15 seconds and that's all they get

Try feeding NLS Hex Shield (metro epsom salt combination) as per instructions on package. Feed a diet high in vegetable matter and low in fat and protein. You didn't mention what type of pellets you feed but make sure they are for herbivorous. Keep the water clean and low nitrate levels. Limit the use of aquarium salt if you use it.

OK I'll try that. I feed them regular cichlid pellets... I don't know what would make them herbivorous? What should I look for? Nitrates are low and I do use aquarium salt but only 1 tablespoon per 15 gallons. Thanks

Feed a pellet designed for African cichlids more veggie and less animal fat and protein. Stop adding the aquarium salt and try the hex shield. Let us know how it goes.
