just noticed fx 5 is not pumping water out took of top water was to right height unplugged plugged back in not pumping...any body got any suggestions i have work in 4 hours so have to keep fingers crossed till 2marrow on my fish....this is not on my arow tank...other 125 with koi ..please help:(

Put the media submerged in the tank so it doesnt crash.

mine stopped pumping also, i removed a some media (the sponge around 1 of the baskets and it started to work again.

Check the media basket. Especially if you are using the fluval white/blue polishing pads. After a few of days of use they will compress causing the filter to stop. Good luck.

Sorry to hear it. Can you call in sick, lol, no really I would be very tempted to, as long as your boss isn't on this forum too, lol. Seriously, I agree w/ previous recom. remove all media, except your bio med. for now & hopefully that may help. How long has it been setup & how long since the last cleaning or new mech. media was introduced & is all the media stacked correctly in their appropriate baskets? Is the motor wrking, impeller spinning, could the impeller be impeded w/ debris if not? Also can you easily take it apart & manually rotate the impeller a few times & then while submerged in a large sink or container of water, making sure to invert it to release all the air, plug it in to see what's going on w/ it? Sorry for all the ?'s, but to a degree the impeller can wrk w/ the motor ok, but if the water flow is blocked from submerging the impeller properly it won't pump, just spin. 1 last thing they shut dwn 1x a day as I'm sure you know, would this possibly have occurred on a shut dwn, restart time or do you think it just stopped period.

How long have you had it & will you be able to return it, if you need to ?

Finger's crossed/ prayer's said for your fish/you. :) :) :)

dude, maybe for future issues.. purchase another filter...and leave it on a shelf...as a just in case... how many filters did you see in my house? I have like 2 on each tank, god forbid one goes down...also since i lose power constantly with the damn squirrels eathing through my power lines.. i have purchased a generator that runs for well over 9 hours and it has paid for itself over and over..

Squirrels.... It would only take one power outage from them, and I would shoot every one I could find. Anyway, having a backup filter is a very good idea, especially if you run a self-contained filter.
