not really, however he has developed a calcium type of lump on his forehead the pressure seems to be affecting one of his eyes, as it's swollen. He's the only one in the tank affected.. not fluffy like fungi, but almost appears to be hard like bone? Any ideas for treatment, I started the tank with salt? I'm getting ready to remove him and swab the area with Hydrogen peroxide..take a look let me know if you have any ideas?:nilly:

I'm moving fish around to open up a tank...btw the salt tratment caused the lump to open up leaving a nice size crater...treated the entire tank w/ Pimaflex as a prevenitive until I can move him...thank you for the quick reply any idea on what to use to treat it?

maracyn...maracyn2 might some good meds to start with but here is a bump for more people to chime in

Hole in head and beginnings of pop eye. Salt will make things much worse for this soft water fish. I would also have a close look at the other fish too since this problem is usually due to tank conditions/hygiene.

Treat for advanced stages of Hole in the head disease. I have had reasonable success with this product - but it will damage your biological filtration. http://www.marinedepot.com/ps/ps_ViewItem~idproduct~AP1563.html

Unable to detect problems or HITH on any other fish in the tank, AMM, Nitrite where within safe levels...Nitrate's are always high here, even straight from the tap. He was moved to quaritine tank and has been scrubbed...he's doing well sore, appears to be healing....Previous tank was medicated for 2 days and then I have performed 2 small water changes since....thanks for the link!
