Hello,
I went fishing last night right by the hover dam in Lake Meade outside of Las vegas, I cought a huge 38 inch channel catfish, I have it in a large 100 gallon plastic filled with lake water. Im really wanting to add it to my 260 gallon currently stocked with a 20 inch silver arowana, 12 inch oscar, (3) 8 inch jaguar cichlids, 9 inch two line pike. Do you think it is too large to be housed with these guys?
I am also looking for everything and anything i can find to house, maint. and feed large channels, including what to do to add him to my tank (medication wise). Please help me I am looking for everything and anything i can find to house them.
Thank you

thats way too big for a 260, its even too big for a 400 long

Would need tank dimensions but even an oddly-shaped 260 will not likely hold a 38" fish that can still get bigger. You'd probably need something around 500-600 gallons.

I think you should probably let the big guy go.

if you know how to raise em' then id say raise them and keep a couple as a momento of a great catfish, sell the rest and maybe save up for a nice big tank so if you catch it again youll be ready ^^

I feel bad now, She laid eggs in my holding tank, well probably be out to the lake tomorrow to let her go, what should i do with the eggs?

Don't feel bad. You can give those eggs a better chance than they might have had in the wild. I would seperate them from her since she is in a small tub; she might thrash on them or even gulp them up. Or, if possible, seperate her into another tub.

I've taken pictures of her and my tank im not sure how to upload them to here i have them saved in a folder. We measured her from head to tail shes 31.4 inches long and 4.15 inches tall and 3.2 inches wide.

how wide is your 260g because even if you did say keep it for a while it would quickly grow out of it. I say ptu the mom back and keep the eggs and take some pics
