This morning Iwent to check my 2 baby lmb. they all looked fine so I fed them. they ate like monsters. at noon, I check on my fattest one and saw that he had a "long fleshy bump" that the sid of his mouth where te mouth begins! it kinda looks wart like. What happened? Is it a disease or did the bass somehow injure himself? I also noticed that one of his pectoral fin were injured by a bite. the thing is, that bass is te dominate one so it doesn''t get bullied. the mouth "wound" isn't bloody or anything. What happened to the mouth? did my bass injure his mouth when it grabbed for food or in a fight?? I ofen have a tendancy to feed it large talapia chunks. could it of dislocated it's jaw and that "bump" was just part of its jaw?

I feed my bass: hikiri carnivour pellets, talapia, hikiri algae pellets and worm sinking pellets.

I also noticed that my temp is up to 86 degrees!

what happened to my bass??

super hard to get pics since the mouth is so small and my camera sucks. Basically, it looks like "a grey tongue" that pokes out the side of th mouth. The bass has his fins clamped together an its floating beside the filter.

that bass is te dominate one so it doesn''t get bullied.

that may not be true any more. my tank has had 3 different bosses in the last year. it may have lost, or just gotten injured defending it's crown.
fishy politics.
as long as you haven't added any fish recently (including feeders) you should be safe in assuming it isn't a parasite, so keep an eye on it to see if it heals or starts to get worse.

i fed my bass around 4 quarinteened guppies 2 weeks ago. they seemed pretty healthy. could the wound be a piece of food that got stuck in the mouth?? it seems the wound is breaking off kind of. I cannot confirm since the bass moves around so fast.

any possible injuries/disease? I doubt they are paracites.

what should I add? melifix or salt?? I already added some salt.

Since you don't know what it is, adding medication is like treating a broken leg with headache medicine. Salt may help heal it, if it is a wound. But adding meds?

TBH, I don't even know what it is. there is no open sores or anything, just a piece of lumpy flesh poking out.

i check today and it's just a bump along the side of the mouth where the jaw begins. the colour matches the inside of the mouth.

bass are sturdy fish, but delicate to meds... ide give it a few days and give it a chance to heal.. btw they are excessively aggressive fish ime, ive seen them take on some of the heavy weights of the cichlid world and win. and made the mistake of trying to keep a small group (3) once. its also possibly a small leach... their are native species that are tiny that go for the mouth area. they are fairly harmless unless the fish gets infested and waiting a week or two wont do damage.
