Alright...you guys have to save me.

So two days ago I was doing a water change on my favorite aquarium. No...its not my 75g reef, or my 125g pred reef (in the works) or my frontosas or ANYTHING ELSE!

Its this little 10g densely planted tank. I was in the bathroom washing some algae off a razor blade when I hear a splash. Sure enough, my lights have fallen into my tank. I got them out, the bulb had shattered, so I took that out. The next day I put a new bulb in, and it turned on. So I put the fixture back on the tank. When I went back up later (the tanks are on timers) the lights werent on. I cant get them to work now.

So heres the point. My tank hasnt had light for two days and my DIY co2 project isnt working out. Things arent looking good.

How have you guys lit your tanks on the cheap? I did some shopping today and I found $8 24" 20w T12 fixtures. Everything else was like $9 for 15w.

The specs on my tank are/were: 37w PC @6700k, eco complete, DIY co2 (not working right now, pretty sure Im pumping o2 into my system :(), dosing pfertz medium tech...actually just the trace, excel, and using rootmedic tabs.

My thoughts were this, 37w is a little high for this tech of a tank, and before the lights went down I was having some algae issues (This might have been because I had just started dosing nitrate from pfertz. I have stopped.) So I wouldnt be objected to DOWNGRADING light...which is why I am worried about using potentially 40w of t12...which right now seems the best option.

HELP, and THANKS! :D

I have:

Anubias, wisteria, red crypts (not sure what kind), brazillian pennywort, pygmy chain sword, another medium sized sword, and a tiger lotus. Its pretty dense in there.

I would like to get another red stem plant...and some HC or another very small foreground plant for in front of the chain swords.

Thanks

Well guys I ended up buying two clamp lights and using 2x 18w CFL @6500k.

So we will see how it works.
