hey guys please help.... my marble motoro which i have had for about a year looks like the bottom of his disk is almost rotting. My arowana and eartheater are showing similar symptoms. My ray is beginning to show signs of being underweight as well because his appetite isnt as good as it usually is. His tail is also rotting a little bit. The fish are in a 180 gallon tank with a wet dry filter and UV sterilizer. Here are some pics of the ray and the arowana...IMG_1290.JPGIMG_1294.JPG

Could use some better pics, hard to tell what's wrong with the aro in that photo.

You need to do a water parameter check as well and get back to us with that. Not sure about "rotting" but fin burn (which I could see looking similar) happens in cases where the water quality is bad. We need to know your Ph, ammonia level, temperature, and nitrates/nitrites.

As for what george09 says, if they're getting skinny because they're refusing food then do NOT feed them more. If not eating a symptom rather than a cause, the problem likely lies elsewhere. And overfeeding will lower your water quality.

looks like your ray has some sort of infection near the outer disc. You might wanna try testing water and treating it with salt.

Ok, get a brand new quality test kit, not dip strips. Test every parameter and be honest with the results and post up. Do a 50% water change if any parameters seem odd using dechlorinator.

I would add some tonic salt after you have posted up all parameter results.

Test again daily.

I would start with ammonia, ph, nitrate, nitrite and then hardness.

I expect this is a bacterial infection following stress from some form of poor water quality.

treating it with salt??? you know what you're talking about here?

recommend melafix instead. and i suspect is ammonia buildup that causes it.

I think he does
I'd try salt for sure... I'd put 10 ponds of salt for a 180 gallon mix it in a 5gallon bucket. Do a wc first 40 percent

Agree it MAY be ammonia but until you work out what is wrong I wouldn't go overboard with the meds. Rays often benefit from some big water changes and an increase in water quality. Melafix might be a good treatment if it doesn't clear up quickly but I suspect that the water quality has dropped off.
