whats do you have for light right now?... and you might want to invest in a background.... it helps bring out color in the fish. also maybe some green plants... if live is hard for you to keep deff invest in some fake silk ones! rings some cover for fish and some life to the tank also

get a Hagen GLO lighting system!!! i did and it realy brightens things up. also get a backround. more plants would work also

Try all black back ground. Due to that you have oscar in your tank..most of plants that root in substrate will probably not work. I will suggest you to get potted amazon sword. Cover the pot with some stones or rock. They are fairly easy to keep as long as you have around 1.5 to 2w per gallon. Java fern and anubius should work as well. Simply tight them onto the drift wood (i assume it is artificial) and they should root on it.

exactly thats the light i got love it!

for plants anubias nana(most other anubias have to be taken out of water for longer periods of time so research other none anubias nana anubias species so u dont end up with one of them!) but also java ferns, lace java ferns, watersprite makes a great background, java moss could do great on the plastic wood/drift wood and some val's for some dif texture and some radican fern! this pretty much somes up my plant list for my 29! looks great! water sprite will have to be pruned regularly
