I voted carpintis. If I was getting one I'd get some from Black Tuna Black Tuna The Cichlid Dojo but I'm sure TUICs as pictured are nice too.

I have kept all 3 species, and just as I couldn't decide on just one species to keep, (and didn't vote), I personally gave each pair a 6 ft tank.
Although none of these species are anthropomorphically dog like, such as oscars can be, so in that sense "not"normally wet pettish.
If you want that kind of response, put one fish in the tank, where you become it's only outside stimuli, and a relationship can transcend species.
If you have any other fish in the tank, wet pettishness probably won't happen.

This is planned as a 1 fish only tank. It's for the 90 gallon in the living room which has a lot of activity around it.

I personally voted in the carpintis. Best colors of the three imo (though mota is another favorite bucket list cichlid for me). I had a cyanoguttatus for a short while and it was definitely one of the more interactive cichlids I’ve had.

I personally would choose carpintis out of those 3. I think of wetpet I am usually thinking an Oscar, midas or flowerhorn but I do have a solo carpintis that acts much like a wetpet. I'd think most cichlids can act like a wetpet if kept solo. I've had solo angelfish and also a maingano that acted very much like one

I love my Carpintis. He follows me around the room and always greets me at the front of the glass when I walk in room. Im still new to the hobby though so I can’t speak on the other two cichlids. But in my experience so far the Carpintis is very interactive.
