I currently have a cren. sveni with a green severum, a juvenile GT and an albino bichir. Am planning to add a jaguar cat and/or a plec and/or another bichir soon. Tank is 75g long w/ plenty of wood and hiding spots.

I'm considering adding another pike. My choices are (going to make a Below Water order):
1. Crenicichla acutironstris (longnose pike) Tapajos
2. Cren. cf. Lugubris 'red pike' Orinoco
3. Cren. gaucho 'cowboy pike' Missiones
4. Cren. sp. Xingu 1
5. Cren. missioneira tiger pike Missiones

I would prefer a colourful pike, and obviously one that won't outgrow the tank and will be a reasonable tankmate. From my web research, the Xingu I looks cool (although I think I remember reading it gets very big (?)) and the tiger pike looks pretty cool too. I recall someone saying the Lugubris species get big too... is this right?

Thanks for the help!

Your main problem is going to be adding another pike to a tank with an existing pike in it. Personally though, I would go for acutirostris...;). Both males and females are gorgeous.

BTW...Oliver is awesome, must be nice being able to order from him so easily! ;)

I know, that's my worry too... If I added 2 new pikes to the tank, might that work better than just adding 1? At some point I worry about overstocking... And thanks for the suggestion on the Acutirostris.. the pics on the net didn't do it justice, I guess.

I'm very excited to place my order! :) I'm getting a bunch of neat fish for my community tank too, stuff I've never seen in stores.

lots of wood. I'm still working on the decorations, so planning to add more plants (windelov, java fern) and rocks. Can add pvc too.

Thanks for the suggestions.
