Hey guys. I have decided to sell off all the current residents of my 120 gallon (5'x18") and replace them with one big fish. As much as I love my south american cichlids and catfish, I find that having a bunch of fish can be a real headache sometimes, and lately its been hard finding the time to meet each one of their needs. I also start college in late August and I am planning on selling the 120 right before I leave. That gives me little under three months to devote the tank to a monster. I want to buy a fish between the 12" and 16" mark that is relatively inactive but owner responsive. The max size of the fish doesn't really matter as long as it won't outgrow a 120 in three months, but I would prefer if the max size was under 24". I will make sure the fish finds a suitable home when I head off to college. Right now I kind of have my heart set on a Jelly Catfish (Cephalosilurus), but I would like to hear what you guys think. This will be my one chance to keep a biggie for the next couple years, so please help me go out with a bang!

Giant gourami, will hit 20-24'' after a couple of years, will be more than fine in a 120 for 3 months.

So much personality, sometimes good or bad. Very owner responsive and tend not to do too much unless your in the room

as far as owner responsive, i think the hand down winner is your everyday oscar, red devil or a flowerhorn

the oscar is extremely mellow, and acts kind of like a puppy dog with gills, always watching you and following you around the room, willing to eat from your hand, and is quite lazy when not eating.

devils and FH, some can be downright nasty to the point they attack the glass and follow your every move, seemingly wanting to jump out and have human for dinner :)

get a gulper cat! Might not max out too big but from what Ive seen theyre pretty responsive

i love'd my TSNxRTC he used to lay in the tank and once my hand went into the tank he would swimm up and genty suck the shrimp outta my hand..miss him alot...and they get big REAL BIG. or an oscar. love the longfin ones

Giant Gouramies are definately the way to go it might be hard to get ur hands on a full grown one youll prolly have to raise it yourself and that would take way more than 3 months
