I am choosing between a syno lucippinis and a Synodontis petricola. I have a 50 gallon tank and will have some driftwood in there. I need some suggestions on which one to pick. And which one might do better. Ill have more than one for sure maybe 2 or 3. They will be alone too with no other fish for now. Help me choose and if u got some picks of ur set ups let me see them for some ideas on what to do.

why not both?

give them more than one chunk of wood at opposite ends of the tank with plants inbetween...

just keep in mind that they both like rather hard water (PH 6.5-8.5)

They actually look the same and grow to about the same size. I would just get 1 either the Synodontis lucippinis or a Synodontis petricola. My suggestions for another Syno would be Angelicus,Nonatus,or eupterus. The mentioned Syno all grow to about 8"

I would not get both as they may interbreed. I would suggest getting as many as possible as they are shoalers.

Angelicus are aggressive and do not mix well with other synos.

i have a bunch of Synodontis petricola they get along with all my other fish. They are very nice and eat everything and anything
