Im am going to be ordering a new tank for my house in NJ. Either a 96Lx36Wx30H, or a 96Lx36Wx36H. Is the extra 6" worth another $1000.00?
The aquarium will be home to a silver aro, a couple of big cats, some rays, and maybe a few pbass.

What tank would be the best choice?

Noooooot worth it..

You'd be better off getting something 96x48x24"!!! Probably the same price too..

6inches is not worth $1000 to me, use the money to buy some fish!

It may not seem like a big difference but for the first tank, it holds about 450 gallons. The extra six inches add to about 540 gallons. That's an extra 90 gallons tacked on, but I would say that it's not really worth an extra grand imo.

I would love a wider tank, BUT mt wife would be kinda upset. It will be going against a wall near an island in the kitchen. If its any wider, we would have to turn sideways to get past it.

I was just thinking that at 36" tall that would put the aro at eye level on a 30" tall stand.

not worth it. I agree with earlier comment that you could go wider instead of deeper. either way it sounds like an great tank.

if it was wider then it wouldve been a reason to consider. But to add height and at that money , id say no.

no way, as previously stated, if it was wider maybe, taller.......what will 6" gain you? not much. thats what:)
