ok should i go with a breeding pair of convict cichlids or... go with a dinosuar bichir. with the cichlids i could at least make a little money...

Uh whats size is the tank? I would go with a few senegal bichirs (dinosaur). I bought 2 of them 2 weeks ago and they have instantly became one of my favorite fish. They are highly active and entertaining to watch. If i could go back in time i would have bought 2 more! 
you wont make much money with convicts. Noone really will pay much for convict fry and most fish stores wont take them, after factoring in the cost to feed the little guys and set up a growout tank, you will be lucky to cut even.
either way its fun to breed convicts, but dont expect to make any cash from them.
