ok i've got 3 big silvers in my 220 i like them the best of all my fish but they are high maintenance all have drop eye and one has gill curl.
I've got 2 blues that might be a pair in a 120
and i just picked up another blue from a lfs buddy
Now He will take one of the big silvers then give it to someone with a big tank
It's a very symbiotic relationship these folk are more family now than anything
anyway logically, since silvers are common and cheap and upkeep costs the same for cheap or expensive fish i should concentrate on the rarer ones
plus these are growing so fsat they're getting cramped in a 220
So ok
i like these guys, they allow me to pet them
sorta like aquatic cats
but my electric is horrible and i actually breed fish.
I hope to break even eventually
any advice?
I usually follow my heart but i now have 13 cats soooo
(and i might get a baldheaded ringworm kitten if the other option is the pound)
it's very cute and very lonely cause no one wants to pet it
lol i put on gloves at work and rub it in a towel
sorry i do ramble onnn and onn and onnn

I'm not even sure any more what the question is. I was right on board with you when you were talking about the two tanks and all the fish. But when you got to the aquatic cats, I just sort of glazed over. I'll try reading it again later.

Sounds to me like you need to get rid of some fish or get a few bigger tanks.

You have some cash dropped into it but in the wrong areas it seems. Arowana aggression is not fun to watch and is very common with what you have described.

logically you should get a bigger tank(s) dude

If you plan to breed your fish and hopefully break even eventually then you've got to find a niche in order to compete with more well known, better advertised businesses in your area. What will YOU offer that THEY don't or can't?
Even thinking about breeding fish for profit when you don't have the tank space and sick fish just won't cut it. Think about it, who wants fish like that? Concentrate on keeping your fish happy and healthy THEN start thinking about breeding.

Ok I like the silvers they are not sick but have defects.
However i don't have space for 6 large arowana.
Soo my thinking is that i should keep the blues and find homes for the silvers
The blues are mint and might actually be a pair as i said.
It's just the thought of letting my big silvers go that is painful;

with regards to bigger tank, a friend can make an acrylic for me, pretty cheap
limit on size would be getting it in the house
bigger it would have to be built here
i suppose i could do the pond thing....

Stick them into a unwanted bathtub or other large tub?. I love that bathtub aro setup, I'd so do that if I had my own place and space ( course I'm probably going to take back my own two tanks first).

Breeding killifish and bettas seems to be profitable as that's not practical for larger fish farms.
