Sooo i have a 55g atm..(i am looking to upgrade right now.) dads looking for a good deal...Im probably going to go for a 2-2.5 wide tank..Just dont want anyone to flame me...im ontop of the whole upgrade thing

My 55 now has a 6 inch silver aro, a 6 inch RTC, a 8 inch Senegal, and a 10 inch ghost knive.. I had a 3 inch mono pbass but the rtc ate it...so im trying to sell the RTC to a good home before i resort to the LFS=/

The RTC is by far my favorite fish..but i cant afford for him to eat tank mates...is there any other monster cool catfish that will not eat his tank mates? catfish are one of my favorite fish...Thanks in advance

If you get a 2.5' wide tank, a Leiarius marmoratus would be a good choice, or a tigrinus (if you can afford it), but if you get a 2', both would outgrow it, so for a 2' tank, I'd get one of the larger synodontis cats (click this link for examples: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/search_result.php?family_id=%2Fcatelog%2Fsearch.php%3Ftask%3D%26family_id%3D13&genus_id=%2Fcatelog%2Fsearch.php%3Ftask%3D%26genus_id%3D0%26family_id%3D13&distr_id=%2Fcatelog%2Fsearch.php%3Ftask%3D%26distr_id%3D0%26family_id%3D13&size_min=10&size_max=&sizeunit=inches&temp_min=&temp_max=&tempunit=deg_c&min_ph=Unset&max_ph=Unset&order=id&results=50)
or a lima shovelnose cat (if you don't mind the slow growth rate).

Edit: Also, if you get the 2.5 footer, it will have to be at least 6-7 feet for a tig or a L. marmoratus.

the tig wont eat tankmates like the rtc?
I think your only fish that would be in danger is the senegal bichir (and possibly the ghost knife), but any carnivorous catfish over 9" could eat it, so unless you can keep the 55g set up for them, then I'd just go with a less aggressive species like a synodontis or lima cats. (sorry, I didn't see that last part about not eating tankmates when I read your post the first time)

i say an Achara Catfish, sorry don't know the scientific name. they can get 16-24 inches but are generaly calm and look alot like the rtc in the body but have black and white marbling.

*Scientific Name*= Leiarius marmoratus. They get big (30"+) and like most cats eat anything that will fit :).
