I seem to have an odd problem. I cant seam to keep a Pleco (common) alive if they are small. I have 3 over 8" long one is about 12" (I have Never actually measured him) my trouble is any time I have ever had one under 3" they die. Nothing else in the tank is effected just the smaller Pleco. I vave had another pleco in th tank on one occasion and he was uneffected and they have also been solo. The larger ones are fine and actually very active but the small ones have got me truly frusterated. Any Help would be appreciated.

When you buy them do you put them into "bare" tanks or have the tanks you've used been running for a while?

I dont typically put them in with my larger fish. the last one I lost lived for 4 months and was thriving quite well. It was the only pleco in the tank and he was larger than any of the other fish in the tank. he was eating quite well and was very active. no signs of Ick or Velvet (the only 2 illnesses I have experienced to my KNowledge.

im guessing the larger plecos are killing them-

would the other fish do this as well I have JD's in with them but on most occasions I have only had the one Pleco in the tank at the time allong with other fish but ussually only 1 pleco. the JD's where quite small at the time under 1" I am starting a new tank and I like to start my fish small and watch them grow to maturity but have been unable to do so with my plecos
