Help me I.D. this pleco

i'm too new ro share pics still i guess, i'll try leaving the links as comments. if that doesnt work you'll have to check my IG for the pics.

this guy was given to me by a friend, he wasnt sure what kind it is either. if i remember right, he had this one for a year or so before i got him. his back looks like lizard scales, thick and big plates. and there are 2 pretty bushy....things?.....on the each side of his face that he'll make flare up every once in awhile. he didnt do it while i was down there taking pics today

that's what i was thinkin at first too when i seen those fuzzy looking things pop up, but i seen a tank full of bristle noses at the lfs the other day and they all had a bunch of "whiskers" coming off the front of their faces, so i started 2nd guessing myself on mine.
