Im leaning towards a carpintis or ebjd. Maybe a hybrid but it was sold to me as a JD. Any help is appreciated

From that angle it looks like a female carpintis hybrid. Definatly doubt any JD.
*very well could be male Jd x Carpintis hybrid, but i think better pictures are needed to confirm.

Im going with hybrid Jack and Carpintis, has the body of a JD and some of the coloring but the back black blotches and tail spot are Carpintis.

thats definitely not a pure jack dempsey mixed with somthing or multiple things I think maybe jack dempsey tex cichlid

http://www.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=texascichlid

look at the shape of the dorsal fin the jack Dempsey dorsal fin in straight it doesn't have that bump thing
then look at the shape of the body its rounder that the jack dempseys

heres a picture of my jack Dempsey as a baby his spangles are different from your cichlid

now heres a picture of a young tex cichlid

see the spangles on his tail

your fish looks like a fusion with a dempsey body dorsal fin of the tex and the head and spangles are a mix of dempsey and tex

Ill have to get better pics tomorrow cuz i only have my phone right now. Whatever it is I like its coloring and am glad i bought it.

carpintis mostly, but don't see any reason to think it's even partly a Dempsey . . .

when you buy a fish like this at an LFS, it usuallly doesn't matter what they have labeled it as . . . I bought a carpintis that was in a tank labeled "convicts" . . .

Ya many LFS are like that, I was pretty sure it wasnt a jd but it looked pretty badass so i went ahead and bought it
