Help me I'd my discus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hard to tell but if both of them from the same batch then you will have to ask the breeder. Post them on simplydiscus.com and the masters on that site will give you the true ID of them.

Even if both of them are pigeon strain, they still have a name to them.

nice to see another discus keeper from MN on here. :)

They look like what is known as Sunshine Gold. Common names for discus sometimes change from area to area and/or breeder to breeder, that's why you get several names for the same fish.

They definitely have PB in them, but the PB strain is so broad you'd have to grow them out more to get thier adult colors to show and properly identify them. The bottom fish is extremely clean though.............

The problem is that there is no naming standard for pigeon-based fish. Different breeders will call them whatever they want in order to market them. These are pigeon blood based. I'd call them gold pigeons. If they turn red, they'd be red pigeons. If they keep a white face with a gold body they'd be gold/orange melons, white face with a red body would be red melons, etc.
