help me id my pike

Not sure... Sorry i cant tell you. It looks like its a very nice pike though. Red tipped dorsal.
 
He is of the Lugubris species of pike, definitely. My first guess would be a Venezuela.
They get quite large, at least 16+ inches as do most all the Lugs. One of the more common pikes. Definitely do not keep this with smaller fish as they tell you. They will be eaten anything small enough to fit in its mouth and then some will.
You will get more imput if this post is moved to the Crenicichla forum.

thanks shadow! well, it seems i bought a monster. it is crenicichla sp. "Venezuela" of the group lugubris, as you said shadow. man, i guess they get to be 14-20"! guess, im gonna have to upgun from my 40 breeder in a few months! thanks for helping go in the right direction with calling it a lug, shadow.

"DWARF CICHLID"! LOL! Crenicichla sp. "Venezuela" is currently the largest pike cichlid in existence. You can expect your fish to reach at least 15" (even if female) if it isn't stunted. You're gonna need a huge tank. Very nice pike anyway.
