Hi guys,
i've been looking hard for potamotrygon schroederi / flower stingray as it is very rare to have it here in Indonesia, theres apparently a seller offering the species. But i doubt that it is potamotrygon schroederi since the color is brown and the pattern isnt as yellow as flower stingray normally has.

Help me ID the fish in the picture.

Is it bred or wc? If wc where from? There is some species that looks alike when small and almost similar when big. This particular ray dont look that big at all. Many rays develope its patterns and coloration over time and with age.

Me personaly havnt seen any small flowers at all.

Hey dazzapolypterusweeksii dazzapolypterusweeksii didnt you have an flower ray some while ago?

Definitely not Shroederi. Black hybrid of some type.

As ShadowStryder says, not any Schroederi at all. Hybrid of any black ray, probably Leopoldi OR Henlei, and i’d say there’s also Orbignyi. If you know rays you should be able to see that much..

It is imported from thailand. I have a feeling its a hybrid too, but i feel its unethical of me to accuse that it is not Schroederi directly to the seller.
well then, abort mission on purchasing. Thanks for the help guys!

Definately not a flower ray.seen many at small sizes and large. mine when small was very light/pale got its dark patterns as it aged. It may have some flower in the mix i cant tell but its 100 percent not pure

I agree 100%. Had 3 flower pups a couple years ago. Couldn't get them to eat anything, all starved 1 by 1. But, pups look like full grown flowers just not as defined. Either way. Notoriously hard to keep for a reason I guess.

Mine was on worms only for few years but was as aggressive as the others and held his own with much larger rays. After 5 years took beating from my huge male trying to breed. I will def try again but probs only keep this species no others.
