Help me identify a Med size/mild temperment Pike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any inirida I-III or Saxatilis "Guyana" are great looking and would fit the bill well if u could find any

I was recommended some Crenicichla lenticulata and was told they grow to around a foot. I was wondering how there temperament was and if a pair would be OK in my 180 with my mix of fish? I just dont have the experience or knowledge. Thanks for the help!

Lenticulata get larger than a foot. There have been some 16-17" easily on here in the past. They also can be very nasty. While a lent could work a Saxatilis sp are a much better choice for your stock.

Thank you for confirming that - That was kinda what I was worried about. Thanks a Bunch!

Lents are very aggressive. Acutirostris complex pikes are rather easy going and you can find zebrina and acutirostris likes available right now. Multispinosa is harder to get unless you can secure them from Oliver north of the border.

Saxatilis pikes are n option but are rather drab compared to the larger complexes.

Wetspot has several species right now. Proteus is in stock. So is sveni. Rapps has Lepidota. Personally, I like lepidota.

I have seen several pics of the Sveni - but I am having trouble getting a clear understanding of what a Proteus will look like? What size do those 2 pikes grow to?

They stay smaller. Google each species you see as this complex can range from 6 to 11 inches for males. Most max between 8 and 10.
