I bought these guys a month ago and im still unable to identify whether they are male or female and i also bought a venustus recently which i think is a male but im not sure.
I also have issue with the colour of my green terrors (2.5 inches) i only feed them high quality cichlid pellets.Should i feed them something else also.image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

GT is too small to sex. If I had to guess I'd say female. What you're feeding them is fine, it will start to color up as it gets bigger. Especially if it's male. Gts are notorious for growing quite slowly.

Although there is a blue tinge to the venustus, it is also a bit young to tell the gender.
Males will have very blue areas, females not.
Although this is livingstoni (same genus) it gives a good idea of how gender becomes evident with age,
young livingstoni

starting to color up at about 4"

fully mature at about 6"

Venustus are tough to sex when they're small. I'll agree with duanes. Not that I'd disagree with him anyways haha but around 4" is when you can tell. Mine grew pretty fast and I think that's common for them so you should've have to wait too long.
