hey guys. I’m almost positive these are Altifrons but I would love confirmation.

They were sold as the usual “surinamensis” butbare clearly Altifrons. Wondering what location point they are. Here are pics. Anyband all helpbis appreciated.

I don’t know if you’ll be able to really confirm the location based on appearance, considering there isn’t a telltale feature that sets one geographical variant of altifrons apart from another, but I’d definitely agree that it’s altifrons and not surinamensis.

Thank you Ryan. From what I’m seeing is they resemble tocantins the most given their pinkish hue and very little blue unless the right light hits it.

I may move these on and get a different eartheater. Can you advise on which species other than Altifrons would go best with large Cichla long term? Looking for some more pop.

These would probably be one of the best given their size and temperament. They could hold their own. Of course sveni are one of the nicest in terms of color but their adult size is much smaller and I don’t know how Cichla would treat them.

The other options for large geos are abalios which mostly will look like these, or winemilleri. You could also do brasiliensis which are showy, large, and aggressive, but technically not a surinamensoid-type.

Thank you Ryan.

I’ll have to decide what I want long term. Winemilleri would be nice but hard to find at large sizes.
