I don't have any other brackish tanks and the freshwater bb apparently died. He's a little jade goby with an ulcer that I've just about got under control, but I've got to find some brackish bb to get rid of the .50 ammonia! I'll try my LFS, too, but they don't have true brackish, just hard water with aquarium salt. If you live within two cities of me, please holler for my little goby!

From my understanding, beneficial bacteria is all the same. Doesn't matter if it's freshwater or brackish.

Well, let's see. I've added bb from:
My own FW tank
The LFS' half-***ed non-marine brackish tank
A piece of live rock from a marine fish store three hours' drive away
Sand from the freaking beach near my house because I'm just that desperate

If none of these efforts succeed, then I'll just be sticking to constant water changes until the filter establishes its own variety of bb that will survive in there. :(

SeaChem "STABILITY"...FTW
I was under the impression that the bacteria in this product do not establish themselves and need constant replenishing...

Nope they do not need constant replentishment...I have started at least a dozen new and hospital tanks with it...follow the instructions, it takes 8 days to completely start a BB colony that will support a full load of fish, right from the start...;)
Personal experience...
