I've narrowed my choices down to an L091 three beacon or L128 blue spotted/blue phantom whatever you wanna call it. According to planetcatfish:

L091 - 9.7"
L128 - 7.1"

I'll be fine with a 10" pleco in a 4 foot 90g right? Its got 2 2217's on it so filtration won't be an issue.
What's the biggest pleco size people would recommend for this size tank?
Does the L128 color fade as it gets bigger/older?

Also, anyone know which one is more active?

I'd go with the 3 beacon. L-128 is probally more active but I like the black and orange of the 3 beacon and the high dorsal is cool looking also.

Get the L091 if size is what you're after, because I'm pretty sure the Blue Phantom is pretty much maxed out. Otherwise, they are both pretty nice.

I called a bunch of places around my area and several had L128's, but nobody had or could get any of the others. Then the 8 or 9th place I called had gotten an L091 and L128 TODAY with a huge shipment of plecos. I hauled ass there and they had probly 25 different species, many of which I had never seen in any stores before or heard of other than random planetcatfish browsing (and I've been to probly 25 between central MA and southern CT where my girlfriend lives).

I ended up pulling the trigger on an L091, and an L018 for a tank I set up for my parents (or mine with the L091once I get my 90g going in a couple weeks.) I can get the L128 easily and for a lot cheaper at another place if I decide. I'll post some pictures soon the L091 is very awesome.

Anyone around MA - Uncle Ned's fish factory is way too expensive but he can get/usually has stuff that you won't find anywhere else, at least in my experience. Especially plecos

I have an L91 dragon fin (will try to remember to post pics), and he likes to hide (here's a pic of someone else's dragon fin on MFK: www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?434537-MY-8-9-quot-THREE-BEACON-(1-Viewing). However I lucked out in getting a great piece of driftwood that provides cave-like coverage, and is in the middle of the tank, so he can be seen more often. So provide some good coverage that will make your L91 feel more secure, and it may come out and you may see it more often (or some decoration that you can see into so you can see the L91). My L91 also is a big digger, so if you're trying for a planted tank, you'll need to use pots or have deeply rooted plants (like crypts).

Post some pics soon!

This thread is my Dragon Fin...He is cool and currently my biggest pleco. I recently measured and he's closer to 10" now. He does hide alot. If you don't want them to hide so much don't feed them so well. They will come out searching for food more during feeding if you don't feed them so well but its hard not to cuz you want them healthy..lol. I'm currently debating whether to sell him or not...i guess for the right price i might.
