I bought a few African Chiclids a few hours ago. I needed to make an urgent detour on my way back an I was only able to return about 3 hours later. So my fishes had been bagged up as it was from the LFS for the whole 3 hours. When I checked on them, 1 of them was swimming sideways and bottom up in the bag. What can I do??? Help me.

I already released them into the new tank about an hour ago. That 1 fish is still swmming weird.

He probably got deprived of oxygen sitting in that bag and it could have messed with his brain. Wait for a little while. The fish could have gotten dimentia from being in the bag and he equilibrium is off. Update in an hour or two.

PH shock...? Is your tank and the LFS water the same PH?

It was swimming like that even before I released it :(

Unless they bagged it without an air pocket, he should've been fine with that amount of oxygen in the bag for 3 hours (and longer). Fish are shipped that way without pure oxygen every day of the week and are in their bags for several days. He may've been sick before you got him possibly. It's a toss-up whether he'll make it or not.

I think Fishman1318 may be correct. It's swimming fine now. :D:D:D:D:D Thanks guys!

Bagging fish at the LFS is usually stressful.
Especially if the person bagging does the "dip-chase-miss-cuss" routine.
Then when you get home, just tossing them in your tank causes further stress. It is best to alclimate them for sure, especially if they don't look like they are well...IMHO...

Oh no. It was all fine, swimming, playing with the rest. I just checked on it. It died. :(
