im going to be building my stand soon so i can set up my 125g. i've narrowed it down to a few cichlids id like to put in there. my del and senegal will be in the tank too

RTM (hope to fine a female)
true parrot (maybe 2, im trying to pick up 5 1"ers to start growing)
brasilinsis (moving from my other tank)
argentea
firemouth or salvini

you guys think this would work or would it be too aggressive?

Argentea are quite aggressive when they reach 5 inches or more, none of the other fish you suggest could stand up to one, if it's an alpha.
My male argentea kept a much larger dovii and managuense pinned in upper corners of a 150 gal.
Of course fish have different personalities, just be careful.

got something else in mind besides the argentea?

a big fish that is a less aggressive alternative to argentea would be something like a pearsei.

I have a 10 inch male Argentea in a 125 with a 7 inch Jag, a small Johanna Pike, and several non-cichlids. He is compatible with all of them. As mentioned, it comes down to the individual's personality.
