no where
ok im having an arguement ( well debate ) well heres the Q, need your oppinion:

does heater cause algea??

my answer was, no it does the only thing that CAUSES algea is the UV rays from the sun...........

what do you all think??

Never heard of the heater causing algae, thats a new one.The sun yeah as well as tanklights constantly being on coupled with nutrients in the water.

Nope....you'll get about the same amount of algae in a chilled goldfish tank as you will in a heated tropical tank. I do find it's different types of algae though...in the goldfish tanks you get "green spots" and the tropicals you get a brownish or greenish slime.

Thank you GermanRam.I have always liked the hair algae that I have seen in some tanks but could never get that type to grow.

yes....for a 75gal tank?

I believe that's what I am using in mine, and haven't had any issues with it yet (1 year) Keeps everything a nice constant temp.

im gonna shoot an answer without reading the thread

mix 1 heater with 1 tank light and add suspended dissolved nutrients and there you go algae for dinner.

Though some think sunlight is the only thing needed for algae, I think photosynthesis can use an artificial light source .

IMHO
