ok when i was at my lfs when i bought my g. brasiliensis the tag said g. iporangensis but i just didn't think of it. and the guy seemed trustworthy because i mean he gave me 1 free for buying 2 i asked for g. brasiliensis and he agreed with me that they were. they have a lot of things in common. i wanna know what i can do to desipher wether its g. iporangensis or g. brasiliensis?

The colors in the pictures look pretty different to me. The g. iporangensis looks redder if you google-image search. And the g. brasiliensis looks more "brown" and also more stocky. I'm no expert, so you don't by any means have to take my word for it, but
it looks that way to me. And not soley based on the pics that you posted. maybe google "young g. iporangensis" and "young g. brasiliensis."

Should be able to base it on where you picked them up from and how much it cost. Normal businesses that don't special in South Americans aren't going to be selling iporangensis I wouldn't imagine.

Brasiliensis are very common.

Edit: Cichlid-forum.com doesn't even have a photo for their iporangensis profile, so I highly doubt you've got one.

Pics would help.I'm sure somone on here can tell

see thats the thing they labled them as iporangensis but they are in my mind brasiliensis but they also have the body shape of the iporangensis. here are some pics of mine:

not that it matters but looking at this old thread i made i forgot that probably a month after i made it i went back for some blood worms and stuff and the guy had a tank labled G. iporangensis and they were bought directly from jeff rapps. so this whole conflict is over
