i just bought a jardini arowana today, hes only 2 inches, the LFS has been feeding him feeder guppies, i hear feeders carry disease's, what kind of food should i be feeding him?

yes feeder do carry some disesaes but if u breed ur onw it would work out fine get a small like 2.5 gallon tank with a beeder box and breed and put 2 platies male and female and let them breed and u will have plenty of feeders in no time. lol like a day in a week ull have a lot.

prawns, shrimps, pellets
beef heart with fat cut out
fish fillets
crikets, locusts, worms

lots of options
what ever is cheapest,

i feed mine prawns stuffed with hikari pellets
and it is FAT

i have noticed in arowanas under 4 inches that most of the time they dont like anything but feeders. they are to delicate to try to starve them to get them to eat other foods. but if it likes anything else u give it just feed it that. much better for the fish than feeders. even if its more fun to watch them eat feeders.

try anything, feed him what he likes

the LFS guy said he's been feeding him feeder guppies, i think thats what im gonna stick to, may stick with bigs idea and try to breed something and use em as live feeders

thx for info, ill try a bunch of random stuff and see what he eats and what he doesnt eat, gonna try freeze dried stuff first
