I've got a 75gallon planted tank with a lot of driftwood in it, this tank was setup specifically for my MBU puffer to growout in. The only issue I'm having is during feeding, He makes a huge mess and leaves small scraps of food on the bottom.

so here's my question, I want to get him a cleanup crew, something that won't hurt the puffer in anyway, and wont be destroyed by the puffer ( i don't know how he is with other fish ). Just something that will clean up the little scraps of food left over. Any suggestions?

also, It can't be something that will eat my plants.

I would suggest a catfish. Maybe a raphael. It's going to be hit or miss as far as tankmates. No way to know unless you try.

+1 A strong, sturdy cat would be a good idea. Just make sure it is able to hide when necessary but can still hold his own. You don't want him to be a snack one day. Clown loaches might be a good idea, too.

I was thinking about clown loaches But i was worried they may pick at the plants. I know its a hit or miss with the tank mates, just curious as to what would be a good choice.

O, good point nix. I never thought about the cories. I wish i could get pics of the tank, but the tanins cause it to be very dark.

keep the options coming.

The issue I find is that you need fish which are "smart enough" to figure out not to get between the Mbu and the food items. I have one Synodontus that is missing the last third of his body for exactly this reason. Cories, for example, might work when the puffer is small but once he gets bigger, if they don't get out of the way when the Mbu goes chasing scraps, it only tends to end one way.

Just my experience.
