Hi all i am going to redo my 55g with sand what type of sand should i use.

#1 Aqua Terra sand
#2 caribSea tropical island moon sand
#3 Black aquarium sand its on ebay heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/45-lbs-JET-BLAC...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f001d3a7f

sry its a big link.

First off i will have an eel of some kind in there and a synodontis eupterus
And my Hydrolycus suomberoies in there ...i want a sand that wont mess with my waters hardness/ph/Any thing its just to make it look nice colors will be black or white.
Both of my aquariums nitrate levels are 20(safe)
nitrite (0)
Total hardness (75) soft
total alkalinity (120) ideal
Ph 7.2 to 7.8
Thank you for any info.:D

If your cheap like me you should get pool filter sand from any pool supply store. Its about $10 for 50lbs and it looks pretty good. What i usually do when i am setting up a tank is put the sand in, fill the tank with water and then do a full water change and there is no cloudiness. But i use a python water changer so its very easy for me.

This picture is from aquariumadvice.com forum and that is pool filter sand

I can tell you what not to get. Quickrete med grit sand. going on 2 weeks murkey, and I have done 3-4 100% water changes. may be removing and going with the pool filter sand if it does not clear up soon.
