:nilly:I have a 125g tank with just a undergravel filter, I want to turn it into a arowana tank, but I dont know what type of filtration to use, Can anyone help me out?

Get rid of the UG filter...and get a canister filter or better yet get a sump.. What aro do u plan on putting in there...?

yup put a cannister or a sump and let the UG filter also be there iff you don't have a problem
and for life and to keep just one fish a jar could be ok in that

Yup, a suitably sized external canister type filter is the easiest route.
Some people attach a powerhead to the UGF in reverse so it actually blows waste particles up out of the gravel for them to be sucked up by the other filters. Helps keep the substrate clean and free of rotting waste. Of course you would have to clean out underneath it before you reverse the flow initially.

i would also recomend a bigger tank as well at least 180 gal for an arowana, i have a green asian in a 210gal and am looking for a bigger tank for more room again. Just a suggestion.

I dont think thats enough room for an aro,but the ugf if a great biofilter for any fish that dont dig

for sure, don't just use a UGF. i had a spike (dont remember what) that killed my previous silver cuz the LFS kept pushing how great UGF's were and how it would be the only thing i would need. i added an emporer 400, but got rid of the UGF since theyre so ugly, esp when the tubes turn yellow. I would get maybe an AC110, Penguin 350 or Emporer 400 along w/ an XP3. you can get an xp3 for 110 from petsmart if you print off their online price printout and bring it into the store. if you can, i would get rid of the 125 and get at least a 180 so itll have a lot longer in that tank. if i didnt have the BGK i had for so long when i decided to redo my tanks, i wouldve gotten rid of the 125 and got something else.

Okay, Its just a Silver Arowana.
then the tank will do only for nearly an year or so and then you might have to get a bigger tank and eventually 10'x4'x3' will be for life
as silver grow biiiiiiig
