Some of you may recall a while back i was talking about getting a 400+ gallon with some money I came across. I got the day off and I am going to start clearing the area for the tank (Moving my 55 as well to my bedroom)

My question is. It will be sitting on concrete flooring (my living room) And the floor of the area it will sit in is not perfectly even. I plan on removing the carpet where the stand should be is this a bad idea ? Because I would like to pour another slab that IS perfectly even for the tank to sit on. Is this a good idea ? Also its about a 1/2 off in a matter of about 10 feet :)

BTW most of my work today is not going to be tearing up my carpet before I have the tank. I had originally planned on buying the 720 acrylic that was for sale on these forums but unfortunately the dimensions did not work out :( Today im researching what tank I want and how to get it here.

Well I'm no expert but I'd say getting that kind of monster tank on an even floor is vital, is it much effort to lay another slab to get it perfect? Good luck with it, don't forget to take some pics :)

I like the slab idea,I had that in mind for a spot in my basement that wasnt quite even. How high do you intend for it to be?

You could just level the stand. A new pad seems awful permanent for a living room.

Im gonna pour a new slab got that decided its gotta be level I dont want to have to shim a damn thing :) I work in heavy industrial construction I can always put it back the way it was.

The tank height will be 30-36 I think Im trying to make it nicely viewable but with a fat foot print :)

Ya pouring a new slab shouldn't be too hard for you if you work in construction and know what your doing and it will be the most secure way to stabilize your monster tank.

I would just mention the option to grind your current concrete down flat. Sounds like you'll be making a mess no matter what, this wouldn't require anything new.
