So I got this blue tex from a friend of mine recently... I vented it and it looked male to me, but granted I am not very good at sexing texas as I just started raising them in earnest. It looks like an escondido or votehillo carpintinis.
So i thought it was male but I put it in with my big male kkp and it started acting like it was interested in spawning with him. they were going around together and the texas got a big black dot on the side and the black stripe though the dorsal fin. I heard that this was female breeding colours for them?
My escondido males turn black everywhere but the face and the females get black lines through them.. this fish looks the same to me.
Do carpintinis female vents look sort of male if all you have sexed previously was flowerhorns midas and parrots?
Or what are the chances it is a male with female charachteristics?
I have heard the black spot is not reliable but i am confused at this point
and btw I cant get vent pics because all I have is a phone cam sorry
thanx
