I've been wondering about my syn too looks exactly like yours I think it's hard to tell at such a young age But what I have read is that the males are more colourful Longer finage and with age with develop a hump on its forehead I think mine is a female due to lack of extended finage Any help from anyone else on this forum would most helpful

It is sometimes said, that males (when mature) have blue eyes.

All the males I have had have developed blue eyes.
Also the dorsal fin rises towards the end.
In males this rises at a steeper angle than the female.
Unless you have both sexes side by side it's hard to see these differences. Males will also have a bigger built steeper cranial profile than a female once they reach about 6 or 7 inches.
Here are an old pair I had.Notice the males blue eyes and the females yellow/gold
