After taking about 10+ years off the hobby, I am back. My neighbor gave me a 55g with an Oscar, goldfish , and a bunch of other non-sense that I have since rehomed (kept the Oscar). I saved about 25 gallons of water and the filter thinking the tank would stay cycled, but it crashed after replacing the rainbow 'Fruity Pebbles' gravel with some good old Home Depot play sand. The Oscar is recovering after adding some aquarium salt. Anyway, long story short, Petsmart is having a sale on big tanks so I picked up a 125g w/ stand for $445.00. The tank is sweet! I had a little bit of buyers remorse when seeing it sitting next to the 4' 150g, but I am happy now.

So, help me stock this 125g. I am thinking 1-2 larger new worlds and balance of some smaller fish. I am not interested in breeding . I am close to putting in an order with Jeff Rapps (always wanted to do that).

What would y'all do? Oscar w/ 6+ silver dollars, a pair of Eartheaters, and a fancy pleco?

Something more bad ass like a Jaguar, Red Devil, or Midas? Tankmates possible with one of those bad boys?

Thanks!
Richard

What are the dimensions on your 125? Until I know that it would be hard to suggest much. But I asuming it's standard dimensions of 73x19x24.

I would stock with

(Existing Oscar)
1 hero severum
1 red severum
1 chocolate cichlid
3 geophagus red head tapajos

Or

(Existing Oscar)
Red Texas cichlid
2 firemouths
Maybe a green terror

Or

(Existing Oscar)
Feather fin catfish
4-8 geophagus red head tapajos

You could probably add a pike with the oscar as long as it's not a super aggressive variety. You obviously won't be able to add anything small.

Personaly I'd stick with South American fish to complement the oscar.
