Just got a 220 gallon and looking for ideas. I want to go with a central american theme and I definately want some kinda of Vieja (haven't decided which yet) other than that its an open canvas....lets hear some ideas!
well the closest lfs that actually has viejas is 1.5 hours away and they have Regani, Zonatas, and Bifasciatus so would probably be one of those. Guess I am leaning towards Regani though I am thinking about ordering some argentea
vieja argentea
vieja zonatum
vieja synspillum
blackbelt
if you want more variety, feel free to add doses of
red tiger mota female
festae female
cuban cichlid
i think the best would be an argentea (cuz i think they are the nicest viejas) with some large clown loaches and get this - a number of smaller cichlids from the archocentrus family and the thorichyths family.
the argentea would be a center piece show fish and the small cichlids can be sort of like a side show. you can put a lot of driftwood and rocks inside so the small guys can get out of the argentea's way.
