Hey guys, just picked up a Beautiful 400g bow-front + stainless steel frame fish tank.. I already have a few fish and I'm looking for suitable tank mates, also don't want to overstock.

The tank is 7' x 3' x 3' and will have sand on the bottom and two beautiful driftwood pieces.

Here are my current tanks.. and the fish worthy of the 400g

From the 125g- 12" Gold Channel Catfish.. 10" Polypterus.. 12" Tiretrack Eel.. 4" Jurupari.. 5" Texas Cichlid.. 5" Bala shark

From the 75g- 9" Clown Knife.. (5) 7-9" Arapaimas... YES actual Arapaimas and YES I know I'll barely be able to keep one when full grown. I'm trying to sell 4 of them and keep 1.

From the 20g- (3) 5" Polypterus Endlicheri.. (2) 3.5" Albino Polypterus

Assuming I get rid of the Arapaimas, What other fish could I keep?

My thoughts:

Silver/Black/Jardini Arowana - Would look awesome and patrol the top of the tank

Stingray - Looks awesome and patrol the bottom

Royal Pleco - to suck algae and driftwood slime

Discus- very pretty but might be too peaceful for this tank

Redtail catfish- Awesome fish but might get too big for my tank. Don't want anything I can't keep for its full life.

Peacock bass- Look cool but Don't know much about them

Thoughts and comments welcome!!!

Redtail will out grow it.

I figure it would. Liveaquaria.com lists them at 300g minimum tank but doubt that's enough.

defiantly some sort of arowana! peacock bass would be cool also

Definitely agree! Would like 2 Arowanas, but main concern is each fish living comfortably at full growth. Not trying to overstock

I would do a 1x aro maybe 4 gars. A ray & 3 peacocks...if u do go redtail & a ray becareful because the redtails appetite will sweep the bottom of the aquarium lol..also if u do ray with bichirs keep a eye because my bichir used to bite my ray tryin to get the food from under him overall u have alot of possibilities with this size aquarium Gud luck !

So jealous! Yes, deffinately go for the stingray. Get a Motoro! Black ghost knife. Pleco do not mix with rays though. They sometimes suck on their discs which I believe will mess with their slime coats. You could go with an iridescent shark too.

You should do a amazon theme! With some pbass, maybe arowana, silver dollars, an some oscars maybe.

If I had a 400g a few siamese tiger Fish I.e datnoides, dats would find a home a few varietys... P-bass, a red aro if moneys wasn't an issues lol! Giant snakehead, I have two and will be needing a large tank next year!

Oh, an some 12inch clown loach if you can find em or grow em!

I'd get a Leichardti instead. Silver aros are too common and Jardinis are too aggressive.

Stingray - Looks awesome and patrol the bottom
+1.

Royal Pleco - to suck algae and driftwood slime
I'd get a Golden Nugget or Sunshine instead because they're more colorful.

Discus- very pretty but might be too peaceful for this tank

Redtail catfish- Awesome fish but might get too big for my tank. Don't want anything I can't keep for its full life.

Peacock bass- Look cool but Don't know much about them
I'd get a temensis because they look the coolest
