I have a 90 and a 55 gallon tank that currently needs stocking and would like to know your opinion of what I should put in it, however I currently have the following fish so they need to go somewhere in either set up:
A 7" Oscar
A 5" Knife
A 8" Birchir
(thier all in another 55, but my parents want that tank back)

And in another smaller tank untill they get larger and go in with the above mentioned:
2" Oscar (black head, silver body, black and spotted fins, odd?)
2" Jack Dempsey

So with all that in mind, let me know what you think should go where, and what other fish I should buy.
Thanks!

i say in the 55 u go with a cichlid set up, oscars, jacks, cons, jags, green terror, africans, plecos, red terror, pb bass.

withe the 90 gallon i think u should make it an ancient fish tank. the ck, an arowana, some datnoids, bichirs, pleco, eel.

Uh . . . if you know anything about cichlids you'll know that those fish won't be able to stay in that 55 for life, lol. And this is coming from a person who once had a 5"jag, 4" red terror, 3" salvini, 4" red zebra, and a pair of convicts in a 10 gallon. XD No dead fish, just some nipped fins. :D

yeah i know that, which is why i have the 90. also im thinkin about tradin back in the small oscar and jack, that way i have alot more tank to work with.

THAT, is one of the biggest recipes for carnage I have ever seen. If the idea is to throw as many aggressive, territorial, and incompatable fish in there as possible I agree:D
Or did you mean seperately?
Pbass? Dunno of any that will fit in a 55g other than for a growout...
Dats, clown knives, arowana, all will eventually outgrow a 90g.

Unannon, Either go with africans or smaller south americans for the 55g if you want cichlids, but not both. I'd put your oscar in the 90g and then add the smaller cichlids, if you choose to keep them, in when they grow a couple more inches.

What kind of bichir and what kind of knife?

Id say in the 90 the oscar in your aviator the birchir and the clown knife.
Maybe add a pike cichlid. Id say nothing like a flowerhorn or jag because of aggression. Personally though I think your tank is fine with the fish you have. If you add a cave you might be able to get away with a moray eel, I had one in with an oscar and a jag had no aggression issues..

eh....i agree about mixing those fish!....the jack dempsey alone is going to get pretty agressive...and just what type of africans? cause your talking a higher level of agression when ya select from those families as well...
the fish your mentioning all put on some size...arnt you stuffing a lot of fish into that tank?

Well the oscars have to go in the 90 gallon for sure so you could make that a cichlid tank.

It would be advisable to move the oscar, knife, (assuming clown knife), and bichir to the 90 gallon tank. The oscar and the clown knife will soon outgrow the 55 gallon. You could possibly add some other large cichlids to the 90 gallon, but beware that 90 gallons is a minimum for a clown knife. Good luck.
